ConferencesCurrently located in 31 parish-based conferences, our 500+ volunteer members normally make home visits to their neighbors in need to provide person-to-person services, including assisting with housing, utility and transportation needs. These days, they are handling all requests over the phone.

PantryOur main pantry at 2101 Leavenworth Street, operating continuously since 1996, provides free, nutritious food for more than 27,000 people each year. We are normally a “client choice" pantry – people shop for groceries just as in a grocery store and choose only the foods they need and will use. Currently, we offer drive through service. We almost always have meat and milk on hand, plus bread, produce and all the other canned and boxed foods one would expect.

Thrift StoresBeyond our conferences, our thrift stores are the preeminent way that the Society serves Omaha neighborhoods. Sometimes during home visits our volunteers discover that a family does not have furniture to sit on, a kitchen table to eat on, or beds for children to sleep in. They can provide a voucher to the family which they can redeem for specific goods at our thrift stores. Unlike virtually any other thrift operation in Omaha, we provided over 3,000 people with free goods from our thrift stores in 2019.

Holy FamilyThe former Holy Family Church is being transformed into a community center. We are continuing the Holy Family Ministries which include the Sack Lunch Program, the Closet Door (formerly Door Ministry), and Street Outreach. As we can, we are adding arts, storytelling, and food based programs.
